The Photographer
I picked up my first camera more than 62 years ago. Since then, photography has been the constant thread through a life that has taken some unexpected turns.
I shoot with Leica rangefinders, Sony mirrorless, and a Leaf Aptus 75S medium format back. I print in platinum-palladium on Crane Museo Max, finished with beeswax and lavender oil. My Lightroom catalog contains over 286,000 curated images spanning decades, multiple countries, and subjects ranging from concert photography to vanishing cultures in Mexico.
My concert photography philosophy is simple: integrate into the scene, dress the part, disappear into the crowd, and never compete with the act on stage. The photographs in my September 2007 archive represent the edge of the abyss - the final moment before smartphones changed concert photography forever.
The Entrepreneur
Before dedicating myself fully to photography and publishing, I spent my career building businesses at the intersection of technology and marketing. I founded and served as CEO of NCH Marketing Services, growing it through acquisition and organic growth into a $100 million per year company with 5,000 employees across seven countries. NCH was the largest promotional marketing support services company in the world.
Earlier, I pioneered Carbon Copy, the first remote desktop access software for personal computers, and I hold U.S. Patent 5,500,681 for digital coupon transaction verification, which has been cited over 345 times.
The Camera Forum
I founded TheCameraForum.com in 2012 as a place for honest, hands-on photography journalism. No sponsored content. No press release rewrites. No affiliate-driven product rankings. Every review on this site reflects real-world use by a working photographer.
The site’s editorial focus spans five areas: lens reviews and optical testing, camera system assessments, photographic technique, fine art printing and alternative processes, and profiles of the photographers whose work has shaped the medium.
